Dear Sanga,
As we enter the last leg of 2022, it is time to pause, slow down, relax and celebrate! However easy, difficult, eventful or mundane the year has been, there is always something we are learning through all our experiences! Sometimes it is crystal clear, sometimes a blur, but what are we left with at the end of it all? What is your body and breath telling you right now? What is your mind dwelling on? With this material we are left with, how would you like to shape your life ahead? How would you like 2023 to be?
Once a friend pointed out that I ask a lot of questions :)! Really?
I think I love these questions because our teacher Desikachar always taught us through questioning! It helped keep the mind open, check our tendency to jump into conclusions or easy solutions quickly. Most of all, it helped us search continuously, relentlessly…
Slowly, in very subtle, unexpected ways, the search throws light on reality. It shows us simply, what has always been there and we have not had the eyes or rather, state of mind to see!
When you actually see something, have an insight into the nature of reality, that is just the beginning of a sacred journey of a more intense commitment to practice, both abhyasa and vairagya… what to stay with, what to let go of. Transformation is not a dramatic event, it happens in small ways, step by step, each showing and leading to the next!
As YogaVahini is entering its next phase of growth, we hold in our hearts much love and gratitude to all those who have been part of our life and work. To our wonderful teachers and students who have helped us stay inspired on this journey, to our loving families who have supported us, and of course, at the core, the very ground that holds us, the invisible Light that illumines our path…
In January 2023, we are starting the year with a Meditation Series inspired by the Yoga Sutras, with inner transformation as the focus of the exploration.
Our Sangati series of weekly community classes offered online by senior teachers from YogaVahini has Jyothi Shanbhag exploring Vinyasa Krama, bringing some more life and intensity into your asana practice!
I will be doing a repeat of the Yoga Sutra in Practice Chapter 2 starting from January for 15 weeks. The study supported by inquiry through active practice is a great way to deepen your understanding of the Sutras, layer by layer!
We are starting the second batch of Dr. Padmini's Ayurveda Level 1 course with the hope that these timeless teachings will help us make healthier food and lifestyle choices that best suit us.
I am doing another half-day hybrid workshop with Dr. Rob on Assessing the foot and ankle to understand what Western science and Yogic practices can offer for issues relating to this part of our body, and we always know, it is not just the body!
We are very excited to bring another workshop series In February-March 2023 with our teacher R Sriram, this time on the Bhagavad Gita and practices inspired by Samkhya.
Group classes for women are being offered through online & hybrid modes.
