Dear Sanga,

We are excited to share that we have started offering yoga therapy sessions at Sreehareeyam, the Ayurveda hospital in South Chennai run by Dr. Sudheer and Dr. Meera. After many years, I once again feel the excitement of working with students (patients) and colleagues in a vibrant healing environment! We hope we can expand our work in other clinical settings and help more and more people to experience the healing benefits of yoga as an adjunct therapy to other medical treatments!

This month I am starting a new monthly (online) series in association with Yoga Therapy Australia on Pranayama, drawing references from classical yoga texts to help you develop and sustain a strong daily practice of pranayama. Be prepared for some intense practice and study!

Sriram's much awaited 5-week course on Bhagavad Gita and practices based on Samkhya starts in March, please make space for it in your calendar!

I will be travelling to Australia this April for a retreat at Trentham and a workshop in Mornington Peninsula hosted by Marieke's Art of Living. Looking forward to some intimate time with Marieke's lovely Sanga, after a long gap!

Registration for Yoga for Women group (hybrid) yoga classes is open for the March batch. A good space for you to explore simple, breath-based practices that address the needs of today's women in a safe, small group with personalised attention.

Please look up the programs and share with friends/students who may benefit from these offerings.

Warmly,
Saraswathi.

Pranayama Practices and Insights from the Classic Yoga Texts 2

Pranayama is more than breath regulation, it is a journey into exploring and optimising the subtle vital energies that govern all life processes. Through the understanding and practice of pranayama, one can explore great depths into the subtle realms of our being offering immense benefits and possibilities waiting to be discovered!

This year-long series, offered on the last Saturday of each month, is designed to help you take up a regular pranayama practice and progressively deepen it, drawing references and inspiration from the classical yoga texts. Please note that this is not just an information sharing space, you will truly benefit if you are able to make time to do regular, systematic practice as we progress month after month.

Sangati-Feb2023

Sangati is our special series of practice sessions led by senior teachers from YogaVahini, with an intention to foster continued practice and study for the whole community. It is open to all. Reasonable level of good health is required to join these sessions. We are also assuming you are already a practitioner in this tradition, so it is not for beginners.

Our intent is to strengthen our own personal practice that will help us deepen our awareness, clarity and conviction on this path. Senior teachers will take turns to lead the sessions for a period of time to help explore deeper dimensions and subtler elements in practice. Each series (4-6 weeks duration) will follow a particular theme offered by the teacher based on what inspires them. We are also happy to offer what the Sanga would like to explore collectively. Do write to us!

In February we will explore Pañca Mahā Bhūtas with Lakshmy Narendra, a senior therapist from YogaVahini.
